The Sun Valley General Improvements District bestowed its Community Service Award on Washoe County’s Regional Transportation Commission for adding safety and aesthetic improvements to a 1½-mile stretch of Sun Valley Boulevard. NCE performed construction management and inspection for the project, which included new drainage, grading for road widening, slope stabilization, and decorative landscaping and architectural elements. Safety improvements included new wide sidewalks and pedestrian crossings with rapid flashing beacons, bike lanes, barrier rails, pedestrian railings, and upgraded signals, signage, and striping. NCE worked closely with the design engineer, contractor and subcontractors, utilities, and multiple agencies to ensure a high-quality project was delivered to the satisfaction of all stakeholders. This two-year project should be fully completed in 2021.
