California Statewide Roads & Streets Assessment
The results of this study answers the commonly asked questions below:
- What are the existing conditions of local streets and roads and non-pavement assets?
- How much does it cost to bring them up to good condition, if they are not already there?
- How much will it cost to keep them in good condition over the next 25 years?
- What is the projected available revenue in the next 25 years?
- Is there a funding shortfall, and if so, what is it?
Non-pavement assets include elements such as curbs and gutters, sidewalks, storm drains, and traffic signals, street lights, etc. This portion of the study was particularly challenging since few agencies collect this information in a systematic fashion. At best, agencies had limited inventory data. Data on replacement costs or service life had been virtually non-existent.
