LTPP Western Region
NCE has worked on the Western Regional Contract continuously since 1990. This covers five separate contracts totaling over $25,000,000 that were competitively awarded. As the Western Regional Support Contractor, NCE’s responsibilities include:
- Collection of site specific data from the LTPP test sections
- Coordination of data collection efforts of other contractors and highway agencies
- Quality control of data
- Data reduction, processing and transmitting data into the regional and national Oracle databases
- Analysis and summarization of data
- Reporting
More specifically, field monitoring activities include:
- Materials Sampling (Bound and Unbound)
- Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD)
- Manual Distress Surveys
- Profile (Longitudinal and Transverse)
- Environmental (Temperature, Moisture, etc.)
- Global Positioning Measurements
- Dynamic Cone Penetrometer (DCP)
This project clearly demonstrates NCE’s ability to manage large-scale multiyear projects. Additionally, NCE has extensive experience with the sampling, shipping, and tracking of materials as part of this project. NCE performed significant work in this regard as part of the Materials Action Plan, which involved shipment and tracking of materials sent directly to the Materials Reference Library. Through this project, NCE has cultivated excellent working relationships with FHWA, other LTPP Team members, and many State Agencies which are customers of the MRL.
