Position: Project Engineer I
Job Duties:
- Prepare pavement coring, deflection testing, and laboratory testing program. This includes interpreting test results and working with colleagues on forensic evaluations.
- Perform visual pavement survey to determine pavement distresses.
- Prepare and review Pavement Design Reports and Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages.
- Prepare life cycle cost analysis, pavement type selection reports, and investment scenarios for pavement rehabilitation. This includes preparing pavement management update reports including budget analyses.
- Collect and analyze data for special engineering studies related to new technology, pavement forensics, and pavement performance.
- Run pavement design programs and utilize multiple design methods, such as Caltrans and AASHTO.
- Utilize StreetSaver and Paver software for local agency pavement management.
- Travel throughout northern and southern California regions for the purpose of client field work. Trips not to exceed one weekly trip within northern California and one monthly trip to Southern California.
Job Requirements:
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Civil and Environmental Engineering, or closely related. Employer will accept advance degree if in the same field.
Experience Requirements:
- 24 months of part-time experience in job offered, Graduate Research Fellow, or closely related. Employer will accept part-time if 20 hours a week, and full-time experience
Special skills requirements:
- Develop and design experiments to investigate asphalt pavement materials and pavement performance.
- Execute laboratory tests to evaluate the properties of asphalt binders, aggregates, and other materials relevant to pavement construction.
- Collect and analyze data from laboratory experiments using various testing equipment and instruments.
- Utilize statistical tools and software to interpret experimental results and draw meaningful conclusions.
- Conduct literature reviews to stay updated on the latest advancements and research findings in asphalt pavement materials and pavement engineering.
- Preparing life cycle cost analysis, pavement type selection reports, and investment scenarios for pavement rehabilitation.
- Experience working with GIS, Auto CAD, ArcGIS and ACCESS.
- Pavement/Roadway Design and Analysis using AASHTOWare Pavement ME, PCASE, FAARFIELD, BAKFAA.
- Must have or be able to pass the FE Civil exam through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).
Salary: $99,070.40/year
Work Schedule: 40 hours/week
