Tahoe Engineering Manager

Ideal Candidate
NCE is seeking a dynamic leader who is interested in partnering with our senior team to expand our engineering and design capabilities in the Lake Tahoe basin and Sierra Region. We are looking for an experienced civil or environmental engineer with strong communication skills, a depth of technical engineering experience, and the ability to manage multiple priorities. Knowledge and experience designing and constructing water resources, transportation infrastructure, or recreation assets within an alpine environment is a plus.
Responsibilities
As an Engineering Manager, your responsibilities are envisioned to fall into three primary areas:
- Leadership – Provide leadership and mentoring to junior team, work with senior colleagues to achieve strategic and business plan goals, and recruit talented professionals
- Business Development – Collaboratively work with senior technical leaders and NCE’s business development team to identify and win work, manage clients, and develop scopes and fees
- Project Management and Technical Delivery – Manage projects, technical teams, and client expectations. Oversee the development and delivery of design processes, engineering products, and quality control engineering deliverables
You will lead all aspects of NCE’s engineering practice in the Lake Tahoe basin and Sierra Region and collaborate with other engineering managers to implement strategic and business plan goals throughout northern Nevada and California. In this capacity, you will perform and work with a team of engineers, designers, scientists, and planners on a variety of projects. To support you, NCE is committed to providing business development, marketing, and technical staff support as well as oversight and support from Senior leadership. You will be actively involved and partner with others in the firm to pursue business development opportunities and write proposals for new projects continuing the expansion and diversification of our engineering practice.
Our objective will be to expose you to the many facets of our company, including working with NCE staff in our other offices. This may require you to travel occasionally to our offices in Reno, Sacramento, and Richmond. Travel will be minimal. When requested to travel, you will be provided with advanced notice and support when making travel arrangements.
Qualifications (Must Have):
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, hydrology, or related field
- Licensed engineer in the State of California or Nevada or able to obtain registration within six months of being hired
- Minimum of 10 years of work experience, preferably with a consulting practice
- Minimum of 5 years managing teams of technical professionals in the engineering or related field
Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Master’s degree in engineering, hydrology, or related field
- Experience working in alpine environment
- Experience working in the Lake Tahoe basin and knowledge of Lake Tahoe basin agencies and regulations
Salary Range is: $140,000-$160,000
