City of San Jose │ Charcot Storm Drain Package II Project

San Jose, CA

Project will alleviate flooding during heavy storms in the Charcot drainage area.
Project Description

The City of San Jose Charcot storm drain system collects runoff from roughly 420 acres of urban drainage area and conveys it to Coyote Creek. The drainage area floods often due to system capacity limitations and high tailwater elevation at the outfall to Coyote Creek. The City identified alternatives to alleviate flooding during heavy storms by directing excess flows to a nearby storm drain pump station, and contracted NCE to prepare plans and design for a 3,100-foot portion of the storm drain system.

In addition to the detailed concept design, NCE’s team provided utility locating, survey and mapping, geotechnical investigation, and additional hydraulic analysis of the concept design. With the City’s approval, NCE will provide civil and structural design for the storm drain system, utility relocations, coordinate with UPRR, and will prepare construction documents.
