RTC of Washoe County │ Oddie Boulevard – Wells Avenue Multimodal Improvements Project
Reno, NV
The Oddie Wells Multimodal Improvements Project is a transformative Complete Streets initiative spanning 3.2 miles along Wells Avenue and Oddie Boulevard from Pyramid Way in Sparks to I-80 in Reno, Nevada. The project features full corridor reconstruction with up to five travel lanes, new concrete raised medians, and enhanced safety and accessibility for all users. Key multimodal elements include a separated 10-foot-wide shared-use path for pedestrians and bicyclists, continuous sidewalks, a raised cycle track, new street and pedestrian lighting, and extensive landscaping. Decorative privacy screen walls and fencing further enhance the corridor’s appearance in residential and commercial areas.
NCE provided comprehensive construction management, engineering design review, surveying, materials testing, and inspection services throughout the project. The team worked closely with the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County, the cities of Reno and Sparks, NDOT, utility companies, and the local community to ensure successful delivery, effective traffic control, and ongoing communication with businesses and residents. With a total construction cost of over $44 million, the Oddie Wells Multimodal Improvements Project stands as a model for corridor revitalization, multimodal safety, and community connectivity in Northern Nevada.
