City of San Marino │ Street Rehabilitation and Pavement Management Program

San Marino, California

NCE helped San Marino improve its pavement condition by seven points between 2018 and 2022.
Project Description

NCE has worked closely with the City of San Marino since 2015 to rehabilitate and manage their streets. In 2015, NCE updated the City’s pavement management system and inventory, and developed a multi-year maintenance and repair plan. In 2018, 2020, and 2021, NCE evaluated City pavements, concrete flatwork, ADA curb ramps, and provided design services. This included pavement condition surveys, base repair markings, pavement coring, and subgrade laboratory testing focused on providing cost-effective pavement repair treatments and exploring sustainable treatment options.

NCE is currently designing 4.4 miles of roadways addressing some of the worst pavement conditions within the City for the FY22 and FY23 Street Rehabilitation Program. The program includes traditional pavement reconstruction and cost-saving designs which re-incorporate existing macadam base into the proposed pavement structure. NCE is also identifying over 300 curb and gutter repairs and evaluating over 130 intersection corners for curb ramp standards compliance.
