Senior Civil Engineer - Reno, NV
Senior/Associate Civil Engineer – Reno, NV

NCE is actively recruiting a Senior/Associate Engineer for our Infrastructure Group located in Reno, Nevada. If you enjoy a challenging career in civil engineering, this may be the opportunity for you.

The selected candidate must have the ability and knowledge to:
• Manage assigned projects to meet client requirements and expectations
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities
• Develop project scopes and proposals; and participate in project interviews
• Manage the allocation of resources to complete assigned projects
• Communicate and maintain ongoing positive relationships with clients
• Independently evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform technical tasks, field tasks, studies, and analysis with ongoing review, coaching, and interaction with project team management
• Prepare and generate plans, specifications, and engineer’s estimates (PS&E), reports and correspondence
• Review field reports prepared by staff specialists; provide guidance to office and field personnel
• Manage project budgets
• Organize field work and assign tasks to staff specialists; assemble, review, and evaluate complex data; integrate data evaluations prepared by staff specialists into projects
• Contact vendors; research literature and regulatory requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications
• B.S. Civil Engineering 10-15 years of experience, or M.S. Civil Engineering with 9-14 years of experience
• Nevada Professional Engineer (P.E.) license
• Civil engineering and project management experience on complex projects involving multiple teaming partners and skill sets
• Experience with marketing, proposal writing, and job development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• Fifteen (15) years professional consulting experience
• Experience with local and regional public works agencies
• Northern Nevada experience in utility design, particularly in sanitary sewer collection, lift stations, rehabilitation and master plans

Senior Civil Engineer - Northern California
Senior Civil Engineer – Northern California

NCE has immediate openings for Senior Level Civil Engineers in our Point Richmond or Sacramento office. We are seeking energetic and motivated senior level civil engineers with utility design and roadway resurfacing experience to be a part of an organization that is young and growing. The responsibilities will generally include managing and coordinating projects of varying size and complexity and more specifically the following:

• Manage projects to meet (if not exceed) client requirements and maintain ongoing positive relationships with clients

• Assist in developing project scope, writing proposals, participating in project interviews, and manage the allocation of resources to complete assigned projects

• Experience with marketing, proposal writing, and job development
• Experience with regulatory agencies, federally/state funded projects and documentation
• Proficiency in latest versions of AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite
• Excellent oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
• AutoCAD Civil 3D skills (particularly grading module) and GIS integration
• Understanding of pavement maintenance and rehabilitation alternatives and strategies
• Experience with complete streets, low impact development, and stormwater runoff reduction design
• Knowledge of state and local grant funding pertaining to civil infrastructure projects
• Can demonstrate project experience with value engineering and cost effective design alternatives

NCE is actively recruiting Principal Engineers to grow and manage our engineering groups with a minimum of 15 years’ experience preferably with a consulting practice and active list of clients. We are expanding in a variety of disciplines – water, environmental, and transportation. If you are a self-starter, interested in growing an engineering group and enjoy a challenging career predominately in public works related projects, this is a great opportunity. In the past 20 years, we have earned the confidence of cities and counties throughout California and Nevada on public works projects.The selected candidate will be responsible for planning and managing the strategic growth of an engineering group, including business development, maintaining client relationships, leading and/or managing large and/or technically complex projects or programs, and mentoring and managing staff.

She/He will have a proven track record of successfully developing business, writing, winning public works projects, managing projects, and demonstrating strong client skills.You should be a self-motivated professional with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering. Dependent on the candidate, either registration as a PE in the state of California or Nevada is required or the ability to become registered within three months. A focus on providing excellent leadership skills, creative engineering solutions and effective communication skills will be a winning combination.In this role, you will develop scopes, negotiate hours, prepare reports, develop and maintain schedules and budgets, direct and mentor project staff, and ensure quality reviews are completed. You manage client relationships and lead business development initiatives.
