The Virginia Street Bus RAPID Transit Extension project was named Project of the Year in the Transportation category (projects over $20 million) by the Nevada Chapter of the American Public Works Association. NCE led the overall design for this complete streets project, which features new, wider sidewalks; new bus shelters; level bus-onboarding; bicycle improvements; associated roadway improvements; and welcoming landscaping and aesthetics. The annual competition evaluates projects on several criteria, including construction management techniques, safety performance, community relations, environmental protection, and commitment to sustainability. NCE also helped the Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County with a wide variety of other services necessary to completing this important project in Midtown Reno.
